Help!!! New Algae

Over the 3 weeks I've been infested with a new algae. It is brown and builds up a sort of crust on the dsb and on a couple of the corals, so much so that they can't bloom.

Check parameters last week and all was well within range. Siphoned off all that I could get off the dsb and scrubbed the rocks and corals. Did a 20% water change.

Stuff came back. Any ideas? Tank is a 40 gallon with 4x96 VHO, Bakpak II skimmer. Tank has been up since January. Lights were put on in March. Could this be because the lamp spectrum has changed and need replacing?

tank was gorgeous before and I want it back. HELP!!

Are there any bubbles forming in/under the algae? Sounds like dinoflagellates. You will just have to keep syphoning and doing water changes till they get under control. Part of the reason all of the params "seem" ok is because the nitrates and phosphates are locked up in the algae. Look at what your doing very carefully, what you feed, hopw much you feed and any supplements you use. Somewhere it sounds like yopur getting too much nutrients ionto the water column/tank and it's fueling the algae bloom. What are the actual results of the tests? "Within range" is not a good identifier to use to help determine what the problem might be.

Chemi-Clean worked for me...

All algae gone in about 2 days.....Make sure you do the 30% water change after treatment and everything will be ok....
