God's Actinics
If you'v ever wondered if God uses actinics, I'm here to testify, He Does! In a big way!
This shot is 30 minuntes before the sun came up at Holiday Isles hotel On Islmorada in the florida keys, the Diving was great and I got about 200 shots of the reefs. I 'm useing the motel office computer to send this shot.
the dial up in the room is way to slow.

By the way, this photo (as are most of my photos) was not edited in any way other than to re-size it.

I'm headed down to Tavernier for SCUBA certification this weekend. What type of camera and housing are you using? I just invested in this Fuji F810 setup.

I'm using a Sony Mavica CD-400 in a ewa-marine case, and my pictures turned out awsome!

I don't want to get too much into your business, but PLEASE take a few days and get comfortable with diving before bringing your camera in the water. I realize that it seems like it'll all be easy when you get there, but trying to dive in the deep blue sea for the first few times, controlling your bouancy, watching your gauges, not running into the reef, keeping your breathing under control, etc AND trying to take good underwater pictures is just dangerous, especially when you're new to all of it.
Having said that, underwater photography is fantastic - you'll see much more with a camera (esp. if you do macro) than you will otherwise - simply because you're paying more attention. Two of my galleries have underwater pics from Fiji and Bonaire. Note that I got an underwater strobe (flash) for Bonaire. (Click for the image gallery):

Have fun and be safe!

Thanks! Most of those pictures were taken between 60 and 100ft, with a few at shallow depths (some at even 5' deep!) and some at 120ft. You start to lose a lot of color after 60-ish, even with the flash. Every place is a little different, and I haven't been to that many different places, so it's hard to say which one is 'best'- it'd be like chosing the 'best' aquarium!

Nice pictures. Have you heard that they are sinking an aircraft carrier off the coast of pensecola, FL as part of their artificial reef program? It will be close to 1000 feet in length at 120 ft depth. It is scheduled for some time this December.

Its kinda sad to see her sunk, lots of men lived and died on her. But its better to become a reef that a honda I think.
