Giant 5-md-sc

I added this pump on a closed loop setup on the 30 cube yesterday.
When I got home tonite the temps. @85 deg. & the pumps pretty warm.
Is this normal for a LG??
If so I need to find a better or smaller pump.
1" input 1/2" output
Also only 1 65w PC on tank. I never saw my 29 get this warm unless it was summer & the a.c glitched.

thats a plain pile of pump for such a little tank. You could try just putting a little fan pointed at the pump. That worked for me on my 75 when I was running the notoriously hot quiet one pump.

It's very warm Chris... I think it's heat transfer. I just put a fan on it to see if there is a change.. keep ya'll posted. Now if I can get this Remora to quit micro bubble on me this mite be a sweet setup..Added a sponge tonite... no help

you got the pump used correct...?
if so, i would look into oiling it...you never know how long or well it was done before even if it is new something to check out... mine (4mdq-sc) ran very warm some days and not so much others, so who knows...

my md3 runs hot, but it is mounted vertically. Not sure if that matters but I did oil it well and no change.

I used to run the same pump (on my 55) I never had temp issues with it.
