Frag Swap on December 14th
We are having a frag swap on the December 14th meeting. Upon advice I wanted to start this thread.
Here is what I will have or be ready for the meeting and it is pretty blaise.
1. Xenia
2. Colts
3. Montipora Digitata Purple.
4. Brown Capricornis with Purple rims.
5. Maybe a bright orange capricornius.
6. Maybe Montipora Digitata Orange.
7. Some chocolate and pink zoos.
8. A shroom or two.
9. Maybe a frag of the Pink birdsnest.
These are what I can probably have ready by then. The maybes probably not as likely as I am not quite ready to frag yet.
Anyone else to add to the list. Please pm me the day before or the weekend before the event to make sure I have you on my list for frags I have to bring. I can usually cull out some chaemotherpa prior as well. I am currently out of red gracileria. (that naso tang is part pig).
I am looking for any sps frags. Possibly a purple acro or orange acro. Any blue corals will be greatly appreciated.
Ray

Hesstondc:
I'll trade you some orange cap for some of your Red, purple, green mushrooms; if Ray doen't trade you of cource . What color is your torch frag? I may be interested in that also.
Right now, I don't have much of anything to trade, as I am at my "SPS aquisition" stage. In about 6 months to a year, if all goes well, I might have some real interesting stuff for trade .

Definatly for a torch. Never had one of those. Of course my wife may confiscate it. I will try and see what i can frag off of the pink birdsnest. And have it ready for the December meeting.

Ray, I would like some of the Pink birdsnest as well. I could get you a small frag (it's not a very big coral to begin with) of my brown/green Pollicipora in return. I also have these items if anyone is interested:
1.) Colt Coral (3-5)
2.) Neon Green Watermelon Mushrooms
3.) Purple/Brown Ricordea
4.) Purple [photosynthetic] gorgonian

I would be very interested in buying some of the frags that are brought to the December 14th meeting. I'm still too new at this to have anything worth trading, but will pay for anything I'm interested in (and allowed to buy).
I'm interested in
Zoe's,
Ricordea's,
Mushrooms,
Any other really easy Soft Coral.
I don't have enough light or knowledge to do SPS/LPS corals and I should not be offered anything that takes experience to avoid killing (I wouldn't necessarily know better myself without researching the coral ahead of time). I'll try to post an intro email with pics of the tank. It's been running since April and was established for 2 years in the previous location (THIS is a great story in and of itself, ask me about it on the 14th) so it's not a deathtrap for coral (I on the other hand....).
Oh yes, if anyone has any macroalgae I'm in need of more of that for the refugium and want to get a crop of the red gracia (you know what I mean) for the tangs.

No problem goodfortune.
I have tons, I will frag more today so I will have more ready for the meeting.
Ray the question is how do you frag a torch...Mine has two heads now that are completley seperated on seprate braches. How would I go about breaking them without harming the other...A chisel would work but that seems to risky...
I got it from cyberchef many moons ago, actually 2 years I think...About one new head a year under the vhos now that I have halides I should have more.
I would like some of the birds nest if you can get it fraged...Just keep me posted.
I can always trade frags for cash as well.......

The way I did a Frogspawn is with a hacksaw. Just cut through the dead hard part.

I wish I could frag off a piece of my Acro, but it is growing way too slow. It is Green with yellowish feelers.

On fragging LPS (frogspawn, torches) I bought this great gadget from Premium Aquatics. It is a bone cutter. It was about $12 I think but it worked great! I was always killing frags or ruining them when I tried a saw or even a dremmel. This gadget is great for fragging. Just wanted to share.

Also, you can use an oversized Toenail Clipper, which sort of looks like a pair of bone shears/cutters. I believe I picked mine up for ~$14 at Target. You can find them in the Health and Beauty Section.

Fragged a hammer with a hack saw... Worked fine, just be sure and use a new blade for obvious reasons...

Here is my list.
I have a small piece of the pink Birdnest for Clay, for a frag of the torch.
Some Xenia and Colt for Jlovell
Some Xenia and Colt for Mrs. K.
Kayla, I can see what I can do, I am scared to frag that pink birdsnest too much. I broke a piece off, that that is what I am giving to clay. It is a very slow grower and not very tolerant to bad water conditions. Did you want me to bring calurpa as well.
Please respond to this thread or send me a pm if I forgot anyone. I have plenty of xenia (my whole back wall) but they may or maynot be mounted.
I will have purple motipora digitata frags. Prolly about 6 or so.
I also will have a frag of orange montipora digitata frags..
