First Casualty

I picked up a pair of Ocellaris Clowns form Cap bay last week. I use an AquaClear 500 HOB Power Filter to run Carbon filtration for 1 week out of a month. The Large Female Ocellaris Clown decided to act out a scene from Finding Nemo and swam into the intake stem of the Aquaclear 500. Needless to say as soon as I discovered her mangled orange Corpse lodged in the blades of the AC500 impellar, the impellar shredded her into a 100 pieces.

Now the smaller male Ocellaris clown hides in a cave in the Live Rock. He only comes out when the lights are out.

The question is should I purchase another large Ocellaris Clown or should I purchase another "pair?"

BTW, I purchased an intake extension cover with a sponge filter for the AC500.

I would wait at least a week for the water chemistery to return to normal and make sure that the other fish does ok.

2nd Casualty.

I found the little male Clown dead this morning. He was lodged in a small hole in the live rock.

45 bucks down the drain.

My Yellow Tang and Yellow Watchman Goby are both fine. I will have to think about getting more Clown Fish. They are horrible swimmers and my aquarium has allot flow. My next purchase will probably be a Coral Beauty Dwarf Angle and a Neon Blue Goby.

I guess Marlin was too sad seeing Nemo get shredded by the intake fan so he decided to stress himself out and starve to death=)

Don't worry about clowns....go to Ocean Treasures....you can buy a pair for $20 bucks. Their size ranges from small to full grown. $10 each...I'd say that's a great deal!
