Question

Fingers?

Fingers?
Perhaps this should be Charles' nickname?

Actually, with a very small (10 gallon) tank, I'm in search of a very small (2-4 little branches) finger or Rasta.
If anyone has a finger or Rasta that they might be interested in trimming to make a small frag, I plan on being at the meeting next week (CapBay) and would be interested in talking about price or perhaps a trade (bit low after yesterday's session, but as Wimpy used to say "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!").
Thanks
Mike

I have a small colt coral if you are interested. It's not a finger or rasta though. It's about 2-3 inches w/lots of branches ( and feathery polyps) coming from it. Your welcome to it. Let me know. Sally

Fingers?

Sally
Very kind of you to offer a frag of your Colt. I have two Colts now. One that I hacked at yesterday (got three frags off of it, two that I gave to a friend, but one of my peppermint shrimps managed to tickle the third piece which I kept out from under the toothpick-rubberband mechanism I was using to hold it, so it's going to be a big surprise to find it someday!) and another with slightly different polyps (larger/longer than the bigger Colt).
Also have four other leathers, plus an assortment of star polyps in brown and fluorescent green, some brown buttons that finally seem to be taking off, an Acro frag that I got last month at the club meet, two gorgonias and a large array of creepy crawlers (peppermints, camelback and a cleaner shrimp, arrow crab, emerald crabs, two different serpent stars, plus red and blue legged hermits and however many turbos the saltwater tankgods have left me ).
The reason I wanted a rasta or finger was to try something like the leathers that lately have become successful for me, but with a different texture. Given the size of my tank (10) and my lighting (one 20k in the back and two 14 watt four-fingered fluorescents up front) I'd not had success with "hard" corals until lately. Changing the 20k bulb seems to have helped that Acro, but I think I'm better off sticking with softies, as they have a higher tolerance for my fumbling attempts at reefkeeping!
Thanks again for the offer of the Colt frag. Hope to meet you at next weeks club confab at CapBay.
Mike
PS Once my stuff starts growing back after yesterday's pruning, I'd be happy to share a frag or 3 with you if I've got something that interests you.

I have several different leathers, (including a frag from last month's session) but would like to hear more on the chance that yours is something different from what I have.
I would be happy to swap for a colt cutting, tho' it too would be just a starter as I've not kept any from the session last week. They're a bit slimy and you can't glue them. Only rubber bands and/or toothpicks seem to work.
Let me know. Feel free to e-mail direct at mbshapir@bellsouth.net.
Mike

If you're not at the meeting, don't worry your friend about it. We'll hook up whenever it's convenient. I'm down in East Cobb very close to MarineFish.
