False Perc Question...

I have a false perc, had him for almost 2 yrs now... He is really quite comfy in a rather large LTA that I have...

My question is this... I would like to get another and maybe hope they pair up... What are my chances of success? Will they battle? I really don't want to risk injury... My current perc is around 2" or so...

From what I've read in Joyce Wilkerson's CLOWNFISH (1/2 way down this page)book, get the smallest false perc that you can. Your existing one (i.e., the larger one) should transform into a female.

Hi,

From my findings thats one hundred percent correct (100%). Try not to get the smallest one, but at least 50 to 60% of the other ones size.

With regards to fighting, unfortunately It will happen but it should quickly subside. The male will always be the one who is pushed out of the anemone. This is normal and should be noticed.

If your anemone is large enough I have even seen them live 50%/50% where they live in it together but they dont wonder to the other side.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Simon

It's hard to try to make mated pairs. But a pair then that works.

I agree with the above two...I have done that a couple times and it worked for me...

mine have always been tank raised, not sure if that helps
