Emerald Crab eats Xenia

Is this normal? The dude is like a giraffe in the Sarengeti. Reaching for the high leaves!

What the hell?

Too funny....great picture though. Is he actually pulling off the polpys and eating them? Sometime when you feed a tank they start waving their arms hoping to catch something in the water column. If he is actually eating the xenia...you may have something there...people may want to rent that crab out!

Is he really eating it. I've yet to see anything eat xenia, my angel will take a nip but then he slinks off to brush his teeth with some algae. Xenia has a pungent ordor.

These pics reminded me of one I took several years ago of the emerald crab I had in my old 10g.

It really looks like he's going for the Xenia to eat it, and I remember seeing him once or twice "grab" a stalk or two, but never did he actually rip it off and try to eat it. I think he was just busy chowing down on the nearby bubble algae and got carried away or something. If yours is like mine, he'll devour all the bubble algae and might annoy a coral here or there, but will cause no lasting damage.

Never had any bubble algea in this tank. He is funny to watch. He tries to grab the fish as they swim by. The fish seem to taunt him. He is a traveler. He cover this 55 gallons at least 20 times a day. He is everywhere.

But I actually saw him start ripping Xenis stalks off and stuff them in his mouth last night. Hw was there for like 3 minutes, and then moved on.
