Electric Blue Hermit

I have an electric blue hermit in a 2.5g nano. Would there be any reason that it would loose a claw? Other than coral, his tank mate is a snail. He hasn't moved from the same spot in 2 days. Should I move him into a different tank? I had an ammonia spike from a dead snail. I am doing water changes to get it back down. Would that have caused it?

could be molting.

not molting, he lost his whole claw. I guess it doen't matter now.
I moved him to another tank and he was ripped out of his shell by another hermit.

I wouldn't mind so much if he wasn't a $7 or $8 crab
