If you got to Home Depot, it's in the lighting department. It's actually light diffuser that goes over large fluorescent lights in elevators and stores, etc.
I'm pretty sure it's also called fluorescent light diffuser, and comes in white and chrome, so that might help when asking for it.

If you have a menards nearby, they have it as well, also called a light diffuser, but someone there may know it as eggcrate.

Lowes has it. It's in the drop ceiling isle, close to building supplies. It's not located in the ligthing/fan department.
Same place in Home Depot. HTH.

It will be in one of two places. Usually, it is in the lumber and building supply section where they have the ceiling tiles. Check there first. The other possibility is the lighting section. They should be able to locate it for you easily and it runs for about $12 for a 2X4 ft piece.

If you get that unknowing blank stare, just ask where the drop ceiling tiles are. That's where Home Depot in Vinings and in Austell keep theirs.

Some store has it in the electrical and some have it with the ceiling tiles.

Welcome to TRT Kelly
I don't know if this is the best way, but I have a pair of pliers with the wire cutting thing next to the joint. I used that to cut the eggcrate and then to trim the sharp egdes, I just grabbed them with the pliers and snapped them off. BTW, $12 is a pretty fair price for a sheet.
