DIY 20L tank stand plans?

Hey Guys:

Does anyone have, or know where I can find woodworking plans to build a tank stand? I'm new to woodworking, so it will have to be a relatively simple, yet sturdy design. I am building it for a 20L tank which will be used for a refugium and xenia propagation.

Also, would it be OK to build it out of MDF, or should I choose another material? I look forward to your feedback!

- Michael

MDF will swell man....build it with 2x4's then wrap with 1/4 inch sand ply wood...

It will hold up a house!

I just built a nice one out of pine for my FW tank.

I built the frame out of 2X2s, the 2 doors and part of the sides out of 1X12s, and the rest out of 1X4s

It was very cheap to build - $40 or so painted with hardware. It took me about half a day of casual working with only a table saw and a cordless drill.

I could make up some plans if you want.

EDIT: I should say that half a day does not include painting I didn't do that part.

That would be cool! However, don't do if it will take too much time or trouble to draw up.

It's just a stand for my refugium, to go on the opposite side of the wall where my display tank is (some have "fish rooms", I'll have a "fish wall" ). I think that it will make good practice for future woodworking projects.

Thanks, but I've already got the 20L; I just need to drill it. I'll try the demel method, but if worst comes to worst, perhaps I'll take the 20L off of your hands if you still have it.
