Couple of Q's for people with Cubes!

Alright I just picked up a Oceanic 30g cube. can this tank be drilled? I just need to make sure before I jump into this build.

Also Does anyone just run MH on there tank? With no PC or anything? How does it look? Any pic?

Im also going to be looking for atleast a 175 watt MH with pendant and everything. If anyone has one, it will probably be about a month before I buy it, but if anyone has one please please please PM me, im really interested.

I only run MH's and like the look. I use Phoenix 14k bulbs, and there's enough blue to look good without supplemental lighting.

I don't have any pics, but be careful of what you see in a picture. Depending on the color balance setting on the camera, you can make anything look white or blue...

I agree with Chris. I run a 150W Phoenix 14K with 2 x 65W actinics. With the actinics off the lighting is still a nice blue.

Check with Oceanic on wether or not you can drill the tank. I'm running Hamilton 20k without actinic supplementation.

i will have to do that, So as long as i got with a high kelvin rated bulb then it should look fine? I was thinking about a 250 watt seeing as how there really isnt that big of a price difference going from a 175 to a 250. Do you think i would have heat problems? I would deff atleast have one fan, my plan is to have an overflow put in then use one fan on the display and one on the sump. But I also plan to have atleast 3 pumps running in the tank (return pump, CL pump, and a small powerhead to get water into my phosban reactor and hopefully my uv sterlizer.

Thats another question, Do you guys think that a UV sterlizer is a good idea? Im really terrified of getting Ick, almost to the point where I dont want to get anymore fish. From what I have heard the Uv would help a lot with that...

You might want to check into ozone instead of UV. From what I've heard, UV adds a lot of heat to the water (almost the same as whatever the same size heater does, continuously). If you're already having heat concerns, this will only make matters worse.

Ozone is not without problems as well, although I've never had any problems running a small amount. Many suggest to run ozone through your skimmer and then carbon out of your skimmer to strip it back out before getting into the tank. Do some research and see what others say.

I run a 250 Watt Double Ended bulb over my 30 Cube. I love it, right now I am running a 20K bulb, next time I will buy the 14K.
