I've checked and called Cap Bay several times. As soon as I get my 75 up with the 2x250 reefstars, he's my first stop, but no Derasas. Seems there's a problem with the supplier from what he said.
I'll try the other spots around town, but if it'll help round out a group buy, I'm in. I just have no room for any more corals in my 20 (pic one of these days) unless someone wants to buy some ecto-green candy canes.

sweeet. well with 9 people we could have a anywhere from 180 to 360ish maybe more... If everyone spends 40 which seems to be the average amount it would be 360.
I cant wait..

Can you post links to the store(s) you're proposing we order from?

Here is some basic info...
available boxes:
Jakarta and Fiji(soft, mix, or hard) small
Jakarta(soft, mix, or hard) medium
Fiji(soft, mix, or hard) medium
Each box contains 25 corals. If I remember correctly from the last order, Fiji includes leathers, brains, etc. Jakarta includes mushrooms, zoos, torches, hammers, etc.
Prices seem to be high teens- twenties per colony. I will get back to you with the exact prices.
Regards,
Christopher Rogers
Owner, Atlanta Aquaria
The cut off date will be next Saturday March 29. Pickup date will be the following Monday April 1 at Chris place in Lawrenceville. I'll start a running total here and by next Thursday we will know more on what we want, which boxes to order and the exact price. The price Chris gives us is already including shipping. All we need is add 6% tax on top of that. Hard coral could be either LPS's or SPS's.

I forgot to mention that if any body want to order specific fishes or corals, you can contact Chris at Atlanta Aquaria directly to place the order. Your order can be picked up at the same place/time with the group buy.

Did we get the small boxes or the medium boxes the last time? If they were mediums, I'd like the following:
MUfret 1 Medium Soft 2 Medium Hard
If I remember correctly, the last ones ended up costing $18 each and the majority of the colonies were of a decent size.

I was part of that deal last year..was not impressed.. got corals that noone should have in the tank (gonipora, etc). Too many people involved and the stuff I got was just OK. Time I got to choose my corals, what I wanted was taken. So I had to settle.
My 2 cents...it's not worth it. Just buy at your LFS and get what you WANT.

These sound like your typical Indo & Fiji tranship boxes. Not to dis on the deal but transhipping in general is bad for the hobby. As Todd stated, tranship boxes often have at least 3 to 5 unsuitable species such as goniopora, dendros, etc. With tranship, because a store is buying by the box, you can't just say "don't send me this or this".
I don't want to open this into a big debate or can of worms, but if anyone wants to discuss the cons of transhipping, we can start another thread. I am pretty passionate about this issue though, I have worked at all parts of the chain in this industry and speak from experience as well.

I hear you guys saying that there's no new stuff to trade for around here and that everyone has nearly the same thing to trade. Why not hook up with another club in another part of the country and do a big cross country frag swap. The only thing you would be out is overnight shipping split by about 10 people that would be just a few bucks.
