Question

Cooling

Does anyone have any experience with those Iceprobes? I setup new my new tank with MH's and the temp is getting close to 90. I have a full lid to keep evap down (I know keeps the temp up) and my cabinet is 100% filled with sump so there's no room for an external chiller. When I open the cabinet doors it feels like a hot humid day in there! Anyway, was just curious if these things will work and if so how effective are they and how many I would need...tank is 48x20x20 w/2 175MH.

You need to open up the canopy and you need some sort of venitlation in the stand. You want the evaporation. Put a fan up in the canopy or a couple of fans. You need fan blowing in on your sump. If you get fans blowing on everything you can probably lower the temp 5-7 degrees.

turning the ac down has the same effect, lowers temp, and cuts down on evaporation. i have three fans and keep the ac at 66-68.never had a heat problem

Mine the heater has been turning on until 2 weeks ago then it started to get up to 82. I looked today the fan was not blowing directly into the sump. It got moved when I put my new skimmer in and it is coming back on now. I put a dehumidifier in the fish room tonight I could feel a big difference in a matter of 5 min.

don't think my heater has been on since i setup this tank...got the lids off and a big fan on the sump now and the temp is going down. lights have been off for a few hours too. think i need a smaller sump or i'll need to punch a hole into the next room so i can put my sump and an external chiller in there.

Mike,
An auto top-off is a nice feature, too! No more adding water every day.
