Coming back to the hobby soon...

Well, ladies and gents, it's been a while, but you knew i'd be back, right?

To make a long story short, problems at home are subsiding and life is returning to normal...or at least, semi-normal...

I've missed you all very much and missed the reef tank, too! My wife got a job Teaching at Mercer's law school in Macon and we'll be moving in June (I'll still be working in Atlanta part-time). We already have a contract on an amazing, totally renovated victorian (circa 1890), worthy of being featured in the Inman Park tour of homes (but for a tenth of the price!).

So I hope to represent the ARC in Macon--maybe we can start a sub-chapter? Are there any other members who live near Macon or in between? (ckhuene is the only person I can think fof off the top of my head...)

Anyhow, my wife has said that come christmas, I can start putting a dream tank together, so I just wanted to put my feelers out there for anyone who may know of any quality used equipment, tanks, sumps, etc., that will be for sale around then (anyone planning on breaking down their tank?)

Here's my preliminary mental sketch...

150 gallon 60'' X 24'' X 24'' tank with a large center overflow and dual drains--I'm thinking glass because it's cheaper and I have kids who are likely to put some wear and tear on the viewing panel, but I also am planning a closed loop system on an OceanMotions 4-way through the bottom of the tank which would probably argue for acrylic... It will be located in the dining room of our new house, which backs up to a laundry closet in our kitchen. I was thinking I could plumb the sump and equipment in there through the wall, and vent the chiller through the duct that vents the heat from the dryer. It's **** hot in Macon during the summer so I have to plan carefully about how to keep the tank and the room that it's in cool enough--we've got 12ft ceilings so AC is not going to be a cheap option...

anyhow, this is going to be one of those long-term projects with lots of planning, so I hope you can bear with me over the next year or so... I just wanted to plant the seeds early... I'd love your input in planning the tank, so feel free to chime in with ideas! I'll be lurking around,
--Jesse
