do you know what's killing your Xenia?

too much flow? not enough light?.... water too clean (really!)?

..are you dosing any iodine?

I have a ton of it, but I want it to have a good home...

If I may (not wanting to hyjack the thread, but...) I also am a Xenia killer. one good sized frag, looked great for 2-3 days then just desolved. It was part of a 5 frag package and the other 4 are doing great(zoo, green star polyps, cany cane, ric). also have a large frag of montipora that was previously added to tank that looks fine. antway my guess on how I killed mine was 1) low flow/dead flow corner of tank. 2) I tried to super glue the frag rock the xenia was on to a larger rock and maybe poisoned it? the other frags are not glued. what do think Joe?

I also had a pulsing Xenia frag and it was doing great for about a month and then seemingly overnight it lost it's stature and wilted and stopped pulsing. I have a 7 gallon nano with 9 watt PCs. Would that be enough light? PH was also always around 8.1, I know they are supposed to like higher PH (8.3+).

My xenia experince

Don't throw it out if it wilts it will come back in time, unless it just melts away. I have only had one piece out of the pounds of xenia that I have had totaly melt inot nothing. If I keep it under the light and it has room to grow then I can't stop it...I don't see how anyone can't keep it. I know that GeoJoe can keep it that is for sure!

I don't think it needs a ton of flow, but a lot of light can help the stalks remain short. If you have a low light setting, try to keep it closer to the top and not too close to a powerhead and you should be OK.

again, dosing seems to be key

... and as much as you don't want to hear this: I think it does better in systems that are full of nutrients and not always too clean.
