Cleaning out new can

I've picked up a new Brute trash can for water holding.

Was wondering what a good way for cleaning it out was? Vinegar? Soap? Something else?

thanks,
Chris

For a brand new can, I would just use tap water to rinse it out, then clean towels or paper towels to wipe it dry. You probably don't want to use any kind of soap.

One of my friends that was in the aquarium business told us to use lemon juice. It is acidic and will help wash, but is biodegradable and not harmful to the fish if any residue is left behind. Plus fish and lemon juice just go together.

You can also use distilled vinegar or kalk paste/water... With the kalk paste/water, just make sure to use gloves...

I had the same question a few months ago. I eventually just rinsed with tap water, wiped it a few times with paper towels... rinsed again, and used it. I didn't use anything other than tap water to clean it out.

And nothing has died since I started using it!

I went to the home depot near me to pick up a brute trash can and when I looked inside them I realized that every single one had been USED. No kidding, dried soda, food, you name it! I don't think anything was gonna clean that suff out.
