Clams and WS Fiji Gold

Ok I have been using this stuff for like 4 weeks now right?

Though it was a big pain in the ass to use, lowered my Ph. Etc.

Nope, I am SOLD!

look at the clam growth on the Derasa's!, The crocea's have mild growth, and the Squamosa has some growth as well.

The Derasa's love it!.

I am buying this stuff from now on. I have not put any other supplement in my tank since I have started using it. Nothing else! Not going to put anything else in either.

Is your pH still low, or do I remember you saying it came back up. Also, are you adding any buffer or kalk.

Hey Todd,

Ask I told you the other day and for the benefit to other, If something is swinging your PH in a direction you don't want, mix it with something benificial that will do the opposite.

I have for a number of years used pure vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) while dosing with Calcium water, Turbo Calcium, etc... Again with anything, due care and attention should be taken. Test you mixed additives before adding to your water.

Ascorbic Acid is absorbed by many animals, and species, but mainly fish. Infact most aquarium fish have reduced levels of Ascorbic Acid in them versus there free swimming counter parts. So to replenish these levels is a good thing not a bad thing. It will also increase colour intensity of your fish as well. many dried foods now come with added VitC.

I have also seen an amazing effect when it comes to ich. A dose of Ascorbic Acid during an outbreak does help, especially with Powder Blues, Browns and Regals. I have able to keep ich undercontrol with this method.

What I am not saying is that WSI Fiji Gold is causing the PH change. I dont have proof of that. Can anyone who has a functioning PH probe do this test for us and post the results. My probe is been sent back to Tunze for replenishing (sorry).

Regards

Simon

My Ph has come back up. Yesterday it was 8.1ish so I buffered up a bit. will check later today. Ever since the intial Ph loss it hasn't been that bad. Just a fluke? I do not know.

But all 3 tanks I have lost Ph when I first started using Fiji Gold. So it did something. Other than that, I use nothing now but Fiji twice a week. It seems to do good in the tank. I just need to find more because I am almost out.

Simon, how do you dose the vitC? Do you get it in some pre-powdered form? How much to dose? I've never heard of such a thing.

Hi GeorgiaJams, Todd,

Firstly to answer the question from GeorgiaJams. Yes you get it in powdered form. You should be able to get it from your local pharmacy. I have not tried here in the US but i'm sure you can get it. Its normal stuff, over the counter.

The amount is dependant on the other additive(s) you are mixing. Make sure the PH doesn't swing to much. Keep it as close to your tanks PH as possible. Again this sometimes is difficult. But after a time you know what amounts are best in your tank.

Todd, I have 3 containers full of WSI Fiji Gold, never opened. If you need some urgently come past and collect. Once people get to know Fiji Gold exisits and they will, I think there will be an initial demand problem. Storing up is your best bet.

I hope this helps.

Your more than welcome dude, its the least i can do. I won't need it for a while anyway
