Brittle Starfish

Has anyone had a problem with brittle/green stars? I've had one for about a year and all of a sudden I have 2 fish missing. Didn't really suspect him until I saw him attacking a hermit crab! At first I thought my tiny clown lept to his death (I had to fish him from the overflow a number of times) and the cat ate him. but now my dragonette has gone missing, and he was no jumper. I searched for articles and found 50/50 mix about loosing the brittle stars.
BTW all tank par. are great.

Brittle starfish are predatory. Even the brown brittle stars can be, especially for bottom dwelling fish.

As my daughter would used to say: "Greenies are meanies!" They do eat fish.

My daughter has a red one going on 2 yrs without any problems.

tks

thanks for the reply, I will do a capture tonight and see if anyone wants the offending creature.
This is what I get for buying raw rock from fla. killer brittlestars and mantis shrimp. Took me almost a year to capture the 4 mantis(after they ate most of my snails and crabs)

lesson learned.

I will take him if you get no offers Dallas. He may have company with one of mine. Chris (Mafiaman) had a huge one in a sump. that is where I will regulate him...a live rock sump.

get rid of that thing asap! Ive been trying to get the word out on those. Mine ate pretty much all of my fish, including a 4" yellow tang. They box them into holes in the rocks at night and gobble them up. Must be a terrible way to go. The green and yellowish ones are total killers. Mine lived in there for almost 3 years then ate everything in like two weeks.

Hey, Ray,
That chaeto you gave me at the meeting has a tiny whitish brittle star in it. Do you have those starfish in your pipefish tank?
