A sad sight indeed. I am going to the GBR this summer; hopefully I won't have to witness the same disheartening sight.

i do wonder if there's a cyclical(sp?) nature to the warming we are seeing these last two years... i certainly hope so.

guys as australia moves north the top of the GBR moves(and it is moving) into warmer zones then it can handle and you get bleaching, but in nature bleaching is usually temperary as the corals can reclaim new algeas.

while global warming does play a role, you must remember that the south of the GBR also grows as it warms. So while its happening faster then usual, it the same thing would eventually happen anyway.

either way ill let ya know im going up there next weekend
