Bleaching Acro

I have had an acro from Cap Bay for about 4 or 5 months. Doing well. Sits high on the reef and under the MH's. Not great growth but would polyp out.

Anyway 2 days ago, one stick starts turning white. then the stick next to it. After about 8 hours 4 are bleached. Now this morning over half is bleached.

what the ----?

I just wet sawed what I couldof the remaining coral. threw the rest of it in my sump.

I am puzzled. water temp, water conditions have not changed.

Did my tank El Nino?

Tod

I had to remount a coral but it seemed to survive. I did the same thing, not a wet saw but manually broke it at the time. I actually did a major water change and ran carbon as well.

The corals have a sort of chemical warfare in your tank. Most corals can overcome it if you do water changes, but eventually some will succumb to the chemicals. I have found that running carbon and water changes seem to help the necrosis a bit.

Hi Todd,

How often do you change your Carbon?

Any Red Bugs?

Has anything touched it, i.e. another coral, don't forget feeding tenticles can be long?

Has anyhing else died recently?
