I'm starboard...I have green star polyps growing on the bottom. I'm trying for the grass effect.

yup.....I have a bare bottom, i went BB for several reason.
Just understand that a BB isn’t the cure all for high nutrients and hair algae and such. I actually never saw hair algae until I went BB, but the Hair algae came and went fast....
What I love about BB :
Unlimited flow and at any angle you want (no more sand storms from falling power heads) and powerhead can be pointed directly down.
Astrea snails can fall and right themself now.
Easy to do water changes and suck out all the bad stuff. You'll be shocked on the amount of detritus that accumulates in the bottom of the tank (which would have been absourbed by a DSB). I pull tons of detritus out ever water change.
Easier to move stuff around, once again don't have to worry about sand storms and un-trapped gases and such.
Less money you have to spend on sand sifters and suchA DSB allows reefers to be a little more sloppy. A functioning DSB will break down nitrates and soak up nutrients.
