Assorted Coral Group Buy - about $16 per colony

I am working with Chris from Atlanta Aquaria on doing a coral group buy.

He said he can get a batch of 25 assorted corals for $400 or maybe less.

I do not know exactly what 'assorted' means, but I do know that it should be medium sized colonies (not frags). It would probably be mostly, if not all, SPS. I doubt it would be anything rare.

This means each colony is $16, we need 25 purchases, and you don't know exactly what you'll get ahead of time. However, you could easily sell or trade the whole thing for a few bucks profit. Also, you could frag the thing for a profit, or at least have a lot of frags to trade.

I figure the fair way to do this is to make it 'first come, first pick'. I'm going to start a list, and the higher you are in the list the earlier you get to choose yours when they arrive. Basically, you buy your spot in line by signing up early.

Post here if interested (I will update the list below), and post if you have suggestions or questions.

You said SPS only right? Like Acro. Cause I am only PC lights. If other than SPS, I am in for 3. If only coral that take MH, I am out.

jlscrug he beat you by one minute.

washowi, it will be an assortment so I can't say for sure. You can keep SPS under PCs, a lot of people do. What wattage do you have, and how shallow could you place the corals? Also, you could pick lower-light corals since you're high on the list.

I'll try to find out more for you so you can make a decision.

(4) 65watt. I use the 48" Orbit fixture. Depending on what it is, I could place as deep as 14" or as shallow as 6" below water line.

as far as keeping sps under power compact you are very limited...i have never had any success. it will stay alive temporarly, and then fade away...i am basing this on my experience...drop in a halide if you want to try your hand at sps.

I agree wasabi. SPS isn't going to survive in my little world right now.

Once again, I am in except for SPS as stated earlier.

How is it going to be determined who gets what? will this be a blind grab? or first come first to choose?
