Both of these fine retailers specialize in marine aquariums/mini-reefs. As sponsor members they have agreed to give official members in good standing a 10% discount on all dry goods and livestock purchases except the following items: shipping/handling, box charges, items currently on sale or discount, tanks, stands, canopies/hoods, lighting, salt, and liverock. You must present your current membership card at time of checkout in order to receive the discount. When visiting these retail stores please let them know how much you appreciate them supporting our club and our members.
The Atlanta Reef Club would also like to welcome our first two honorary members.
Kent Marine

SeaChem

Their continual support of the Atlanta Reef Club will make it possible to grow and prosper as a non-profit social club through efforts such as free products for our members and financial support in getting top name speakers. We as a club greatly appreciate all they have done and anticipate many years of continual support from both Kent Marine and SeaChem.

Charles,
If you don't already know, Cappicino Bay on hiway 120 in Marietta is also giving a 10% discount to ARC members. Need to check with the store to see what exactly the 10% will apply to. As stores come on line with giving discounts it would be good to keep the list of stores updated.

News to me.
As far as I know (and I could be wrong) CBA has not spoken to anyone about being an official sponsor. If thats the case then any discount they give would be at there own discretion.
Until they become an official sponsor we can not make any announcements for them about being a sponsor or giving a discount.
If they have or do in the future become an official sponsor then an official announcment will be made not only in the ARC forum but also to our E-mailing list.
Charles

Why wait till CBA contacts you. Why don't you contact Bobby at CBA and invite his shop to become an official sponsor. As a matter of fact, every LFS in Atlanta should be personally contacted and invited to become a sponsor by the ARC leadership. Bobby told me he had talked to someone in the ARC leadership about being a sponsor, but I guess the word didn't get passed on.
Getting these discounts could be one of the better benefits of being a member of the ARC.
Cheers

I agree with yellow jacket.
If they were contacted by the ARC, then surely they would become a sponsor. Says a lot about a LFS that will give a 10% discount to its customers if they are a member of the ARC at their own free will. I think they should at least be recognized for this as they have not even been asked to do so but are doing anyway!
I say Kudos to Cap Bay.. This is what a REAL LFS is all about!!
BRAVO BOBBY AND CAP BAY!!! You ahve my support!! ( and I am not even a member of the ARC yet )
PS, do you allow design/hosting firms to be a sponsor? May be interested...

As far as I know, there IS communication between CBA and the Club. They are scheduled to host the March meeting. This was arranged through our meeting co-ordinator, Maria (aka MsReeReee).
I have not spoken with them myself, but I have posted a reference to this thread on the ARC Board of Directors forum. VP Charles has been dealing with Sponsor memberships, perhaps he'll see this or the other thread and pursue it.
If they have been giving a discount, that is of their own choice - many LFS give discounts to their best customers. There is currently no way to verify that any individual is a member, since I just got the cards made up this morning.
A member requesting the Club discount at a sponsor store will be required to present proof of membership in good standing to the retailer. Beyond that it's up to the retailer, to do as he/she pleases with regard to their other customers.
