Well it's a SeaChem product so I imagine any sponsor that stocks SeaChem might have it.
I am not one to use the magical chemical type things but this one really seemed to do my tank wonders.
Best of all it is regenerable. It starts out white and as it gets used up it turns brown. You can then use bleach to regenerate to a nice white status.
I also e-mailed w/ the SeaChem tech people and you can not overdose (so to speak) with this product. The 100mL pouch treats 100 gals so I was a little worried putting it in a Minibow 7. They assured me that was fine it would only take longer to get used up.
The following was coppied from their website
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Purigen™ is a premium synthetic adsorbent that is unlike any other filtration product. It is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all others, even HyperSorb™, by over 500%. Purigen™ controls ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates by removing nitrogenous waste that would otherwise release these harmful compounds. Purigen's™ impact on trace elements is minimal. It significantly raises redox. It polishes water to unparalleled clarity. Like HyperSorb™, Purigen™ darkens progressively as it exhausts, and is easily renewed by treating with household bleach. A 100 mL bag of Purigen™ purifies and polishes up to 100 gallons of water for up to six months. Purigen™ is designed for both marine and freshwater use.
Sizes: 100 mL (bag), 250 mL, 1 L, 4 L, 20 L
DIRECTIONS: Rinse before use. Use in a fine mesh filter bag. Each 250 mL treats up to 250 gallons for up to six months. Exhaustion is indicated by a pronounced discoloration of the beads to dark brown or black.
REGENERATION: Cover with a 1:1 dilution of household bleach for 24 hours. Soak material in a plastic container in a well ventilated area away from children. Use appropriate caution for bleach. Rinse well, then cover for 8 hours with solution containing 2 tablespoons of Safe™, Prime™, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. For freshwater use, cover for 4 hours with a solution containing 1 tablespoon of Discus Buffer™ or Acid Buffer™ per cup of water (buffering not required for salt water use). Original color and full activity should now be restored and Purigen™ is ready for reuse. Caution: some
slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen™ and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in a small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with chlorine test kit.
