Anyone tried the Hamilton 250W 14K Double Ended Bulbs

Anyone tried these? I think they are fairly new on the market.

The aquatico powerbuy will include 250W HQI bulbs.

Doug now carries XM bulbs and they only require a $250 minimum, [total for club] any combination of bulbs. Here is the pricing for the XM bulbs.

XM 250-10K HQI 53 75 29%
XM 250-20K HQI 56 75 25%

Sorry I do not see 14K listed.

Chris, not sure what you mean?

The 14K moguls have been out for a while and are very appealing to look at.

DE=Double Ended.

Isn't a "Mogul" base is the single ended screw-on type? I have the doubled ended or "HQI" style lamp... although I hear that I'm not supposed to say it's HQI unless it is an OSRAM lamp (trademarked).

FYI, this is the OSRAM trademark for HQI. So, while it seems that a lot of people use the term "HQI" generically for DE lamps, it is really not. Sort of like calling every tissue you see Kleenex.

Wildemon, Ahhhh... I didn't see the HQI part. The XM double ended bulbs are typically sold under the model name "XDE", which upon quick inspection led me to believe all the Power Buy bulbs were Mogul base bulbs.

With that said, despite the beautiful coloring from these bulbs, the XDE or (XM "HQI") bulbs are reportedly not reliably firing on IceCap ballasts. Since I have IceCap ballasts, I'm a little leary of trying them. Perhaps Doug can do his own testing and see what he comes up with, although if IceCap is admitting there are problems, it's probably futile to do more testing.

For more info see:

and

So, back to the question, anyone use the "new" Hamilton Double Ended 14K lamps

They are on sale for $69.95
