Anyone know how to convert .m4p files to mp3 files?

I am not a IT guy. Have lots of music bought from the Apple music store, but they protect (m4p file) it so you can't use it on another device (like an mp3). That blows!

Got to be some good iT guys out there or Ipod people.

You can burn it to cd and then re-rip. It will properly identify and rip as whatever codec you have defined. I use .m4a.

I believe he is talking about the DRM Protected music with the extension .m4p. That is music purchased from the iTMS.

Go to Download.com and download a MP3 converter. Most the programs are trial pfoers, but they're real simple to use. HTH

great I will try those. Just bought the Sirius Satellite S50 so now I need to get my music on it. Freaking Apple's music site adds their own extension.

I ripped them back off a CD as a mp3 file and that work but putting all them on a CD and ripping it back to the computer is a pain in the ass.

Thanks

That extension is because apple is protecting the file with DRM(Digital Rights Management). Apple embeds an encrypted key with your account in the song file. This prvents you from copying your music to someone else library without your authorization. You can only authorize 5 machines to play a file you purchased. Unfortunately the only way to convert/remove this protection is by burning to cd and re-ripping.

Might be a little late, but I just saw this article on stripping the DRM from ITunes music.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/01/m...r-for-windows/

Hope that helps.
