Anyone bought from star aquarium?
has anyone ever bought an acrylic tank from www.staraquarium.com
They are based in Atlanta, that's why I ask.
I'm considering buying a big tank from them, but I haven't been able to find any references (good or bad) about them. And I'm a bit hestitant to buy from them if I can find no feedback on them.
You can email me at bfordyce@yahoo.com if you are uncomfortable about expressing your opinion here..(If the guy is a sponsor of yours or something)..

I saw a couple of their tanks on ebay. they were auctioning off your choice of custom tanks. you could look at what they have posted over there for more info.

Their prices sure are incredibly attractive. And Wasabi is right that is one hell of a price for a 375 g aquarium. Their Wet/Dry filters, while not the best design in the world, are also extremely attractively priced. I've looked at similar wet dry systems (did not get due to lack of funds and poor design for my needs) that cost well over 2x as much.

Re:Star aquariums
I have met Mike with Star aquariums and have seen the aquariums, this is a great deal ! These tanks are custom built to youre specs and reef ready. I am purchasing a 90 something gallon from him with a sump and he is also helping me find great prices on all the equipement that i will need to get up and running. I have done quite a bit of research including local fish stores and online and could not even come close to the quality or price. Most tanks unless custom are not very user friendly and limit you on cleaning and coral setup, Mike is going to build me a 48"x21x20 wich will give me the extra room i want and reduce the reach, and moving the overflows to the side so i can see through the tank and enjoy it from both sides ...he also builds custom stands at a unbeatable price ...I am having him build a stand that is a few inches higher than standard stands(30") The tanks are tested before they are shipped(he was actually testing the 300 gallon tank in the pick while i was there).
Hope this helps, and happy reefing !!!

Well, I know I'm suspicious and paranoid, but it isn't comforting to see that the two positive testomonials happened to just join the forum today and their first posts are praising star aquarium. Especially since one posted 30 minutes after the star rep posted (and coincidently is also from Woodstock),
and the two new posters have email blocked.
It doesn't make me rule them out, but it makes me a bit suspicious.

I always disregaurd any review of a product, when the individual fails or is unwilling to see a negative aspect of the product.
Nothing is perfect, even in this thread I see a weakness.
375 gallons with 3/4 materials, if the tank is over 18" tall it will bow.
1" material would be better suited for a tank that size.

Good thing you found something negative...the fact of the matter is that someone wanted a tank this size and did not want to pay for 1" material and I bought enough to make two of them. When test filled with water it did not have a noticable bow and that's a fact. Whether or not it ultimately does is entirely possible but the ultimate fact is that the original post had nothing to do with this specific tank; someone merely posted that it seemed like a good deal which it is. But again, it's a good thing there are people out there to fish out the negative...Keep up the good work.
