Question

Any clue? ID Please...

These 2 polyps (?) came on a piece of bubble coral, Don't know what they are but have doubled in size in last month or so... I am starting to notice the bubble start to recede where the polyps touch. They are kinda cool looking, need to know if they be friend or foe!

Thanks.

If they are too big to be zoos, then I think they are budding polyps of a pagoda cup coral. I had my pagoda eject a polyp that has attached to a rock nearby, split once and looks very much like that. But the pagodas don't have a stalk, and I can't really tell by your pic if yours have stalks or not...

I would say they don't. They seem to hug the rock quite tightly... When I feed the tank, if a bit of food wanders into them they seem to close in around it, sorta like an anenome.

My pagoda babies do that as well. I'll try to get a pic to show you mine for comparison. They are hiding behind the mother colony somewhat but I'll see what I can do.

Here is a pic of my pagoda baby. Sorry for the lack of quality. The mother colony is on the right. There is a mouth in the center that has gotten a lot bigger lately. They don't seem to get much bigger in size, but have split a few times.

They look very similar to the zoos I have...coloration is a bit different, but otherwise the same.

my vote says majano which can become a great pest. Spread rapidly..... I'd remove them.
