Anemone Health

Hello all, I have a question. I brought home an bulb tip anemone that a friend of mine had in his tank. He had it for about a year and when I first saw it it looked beautiful. well he was moving and decided he want to set up his tank differently when he got to his new home. so he offered me his rock that had his anemone on it, well when I got to his home it was apprarent that he had neglected his tank for awhile and the anemone was stressed with its mouth bubbled out. well I know my first mistake was taking a stressed anemone out of his tank and putting it mine, but well that is already done. I think I have had it now going on 3 weeks and it still has its mouth bubbled out. I have tried feeding it (krill) and tried to stand there and watch it eat but after about 30 mins of it looking like it is trying to get it in its mouth I give up watching it and leave only to come back and the krill is gone so I don't know if it is eating or not. I have done a water change since it has been in there and my water parameters are on the mark (fish and colt coral/torch coral doing outstanding). So to make a long story short is there anything else I can do to help my poor anemone out and get back to a healthy state. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Unless i'm mistaken, anemones generally have high lighting requirements...much higher than can be obtained with PC unless there is very high wattage per gallon of water. Did your friend have the anemone under PC lighting?

people keep saying that you have to have high light, but I dont think that thats right at all. They can be kept under PC as long as the water conditions are good along with feeding on a regular basis, like twice a week. Its almost like xenia, some people have good luck some dont...

We had a bubble tip for a few years. It split, so then we had two. We traded one and kept one. At some point ours develped the bubble on the mouth. It never ate after that and continued to slowly shrink over time. eventually, I took it out of the tank before it died and contaminated everththing. We could never find anything that worked. The process took months, but it was a goner.

I don't think that you have much of a chance, but maybe someone else has better experience. BTW, ours was under CF at the time. It grew very well under CF until the stressing event, whatever that was. We never determined what happened.
