Acrylic rods for live rock support - local source?

I have been looking for a better way to build a more complex reef structure in my 29g and saw this article describing the use of rods to build a reef. I really want something more interesting with caves, overhangs, arches etc.

My question is does anyone know of a local source for acrylic rods?

I wonder how hard it is to make em? I bet andy could if he wanted to. I have read more and more about using acrylic rods to hold rock together.

I think acrylic rods are extruded at the factory, and routing them out would be near impossible. But someone (Andy) please correct me if I'm wrong...

Hmm- I haven't ordered that item in particular from USPlastic myself, but I know they state "6ft minimum", and I've ordered only 6' of 4.5" acrylic tube from them....

Good idea, plus they come in the "coraline algea color" of your choice!

Yes, I think I would shoot for dark colors Purples/blacks so they blend with the darkness of the cracks between the rocks.

But Hey!, Like most men, what do I know about color.
