Acrylic info

Does anybody know some places to get acrylic info and parts. I need an overflow that will handle 1500 gph. I was considering building it myself since I might need to make some changes to the dimensions.

Why do you say to use two instead of one with two standpipes and two U tubes.

http://www.mcmaster.com/ is located in Atlanta. You might be able to go pick things up. I think it is off I-20 out towards Six Flags.

The limiting factor at that flow rate will most likely not be the diameter or number of the pipes, although they will play a factor. It is the amount of water that will need to go between the "teeth" of the surface skimmimng activity of the return that will be a problem. You could build an overflow large enough to handle the flow I imagine, I just hate to personally donate that much real estate to the overflow, especially when the corners are usually such dead spots in terms of overall tank flow and design. Redundancy is part of it as well, and it is just my personal opinion that at this flow rate, two would be better than one.

If you're going to make an overflow for that volume of flow, you can pull water from both ends of the tank to improve your exchange rate of pumped/sumped processed tankwater Vs. non-pumped/sumped unprocessed tankwater by using 2 overflows as far apart as is possible.

I guess I could make two sort of corner overflows. I guess that would save space. Might even look better than the big box thing.

The tank is already in use. I am not real into taking all apart again. I just moved and hsd to do it then. Other that that I would love to have internal ones.

That idea is not totally out of the question though. Anybody have any creative ways to accomplish drilling a tank that way. Or do I need to take everything out of it completely. I think I know the answer I just wanted to ask.

i guess two might be considered better on certain tanks, but on my 335 i have a single back overflow with two 2.5 inch drains, and i run 7000 gallons per hour, and coud probably easily run 10000 through it. personallY i prefer a sinGle center overflow it is much less conspicuous. i would much rather be able to view the sides of my tank without having it obscured by a large overflow. one of the best overflows i have seen is totally out of view, built behind the tank as an add on.they had two notched cutouts on either end of the tank back .
