Achillies tang death!

Well I should have listened

My Achillies I got back in Jan was dead yesterday when I got home. It only lasted about 6 months. It might have been my yellow tang but I am not sure. The only think I did different this week was put in my new skimmer so I don't think it was anything to do with the water. He ate fine Sunday night then next thing I know I found him beside the rocks dead. The yellow tang wasn't very fond of him that is for sure.

Has anyone every tried a coral beauty or flame angle in their tanks? I like the color. But I might go with a regal tang if they will get along with a yellow.....

Does anyone keep purple tangs with yellows? They look just alike so I doubt they will get along very well.

Thanks
Clay

From what I have been told, the Flame Angel should leave your LPS and clams alone if it is kept well-fed.

Sorry for your loss, Clay .

I have a scopas tang, purple tang, hippo tang and coral beauty and several other fish all in the same tank.

But I have a 150 and they have plenty of room to move around. If you are going to have multiple tangs it's best to put them all in at the same time.

I have purple and yellow tangs together in a 72 bow. They were in my 150 for about a year before that. They fight frequently, with the occasional scar given and received. They seem to heal quickly. Its really probably not a good idea.

People always advice me against it but through out the years I have 3 different fishtanks (all were 90+ G) and always keep 3 of the Purple, Yellow, Sailfin, blue tang and a flame angel w/o any problem. May be it just my luck.

If the yellow is larger and has been in the tank for a while, i don't suggest adding another tang to the tank. I have a Scopas and a Regul in the same tank but they went in together. I also have a Coral Beauty and a Flame angle in the same tank but again, I put them in at the same time.

I had a sailfin tang that opened up a Powder Blue tang from stem to stern, (Actually just a huge scar). He was moved into another member's larger tank, and the powder blue did not last the trauma. I have since went with one naso that seems to like the tank by himself, even though the world's meanest maroon clown Once tried to hassle him.....Once....

About 3 years ago, I had 2 yellow tangs, and they just kept beating eachother up (both same size and added at the same time). Then I added a 3rd and didn't have any problems until 2 of them died unexpectedly. Now I only have 1 that is 3.5 + years old and still a bully with new fish in the tank. not as big of a bully as my Tomato clown.

I had a really nice Sohol in my tank along with a Yellow tang. Sohol was first to enter about a year ago. Probably about 3 months ago i lost him, no real cause, just dead one day. I suspect murder but without the proper forensic science i'll never kno . I have since added an Annularis angel to the tank, It really is gorgeous. my yellow tang was not pleased with me or the tang but they are getting along now. Let me kno what u want and I can get one ordered for ya pretty good price next week. Placing an order on Monday. I paid $26 for my Juv Annularis, he came in about 4" long. I have also kept Flame and Coral Beauty's but lost them to mechanical failures with pumps and such, no o2 in the tank killed em both times.

For harrassment, try this... My Naso is like 6" long, he is only harrassed by my little red lip blenny! The blenny sits on a rock and when the Naso swims by he darts out after him ant striking him on his side! Really pisses off the Naso! Kinda funny to watch, no marks on the tang yet!
