A silly Question.

Being firmiliar with the German language, why does everyone call calcium water kalkwasser? Why not just call it calcium water. It just seems like it would make life simpler.

Actually, kalkwasser is directly translated to "lime water," which is usually Ca(HO)2 or CaO.

"Calcium water" would actually be "kalziumwasser," which is CaCO3.

So... kalkwasser is probably more descriptive than just "calcium water." Besides, "kalkwasser" sounds so much more scientific than "lime water"...

Oh failure, my handy dandy german book failed me again. Wait, no it didnt, it is people using big words *guilty as charged* for fairly simple things. *used car salesman pitch* "well what ya really need is this here air defuser powered foam fractionater complete with UV Sterilizer which would go great in that thar sump that needs brand spankin new MH lights and a RO/DI Kalkwasser top off unit"
