Thanks Rob, but he actually got the EV-120 from me. No remora pro's here.

I dont think I am going to invest anymore money in my skimmer. I have a new one on order that I am certain will keep the water clean. I am getting and Aquamedic Turbofloater 5000 single. That is the 6' monster skimmer rated at 900 gal. I ordered it a couple weeks ago, but the Aquamedic Warehouse burned down and the pumps for that skimmer are on BackOrder. I am VERY anxious to hook that thing up.

Now Russ - you know the rules. You've got to spend money *constantly*.
Hope the new one shows up soon.

I guess if you didn't get a Deltec H&S is the next best thing JK. It looks really nice. If it's like my Deltec you will be surprised at what it pulls out of your tank!

Thanks Steve. I changed my mind several times before deciding on this one. I did consider the Deltec 702 for a very brief moment, just so I'd have the option of getting the self-cleaning head, but then I ran out of beer.
It's easier to resist the siren song of the really high dollar skimmers when you remember they are just fancy air pumps.
Cheers!

Yeah, but that Red Dragon on the Bubble King sure is a sexy air pump .

Good thing the nautilus works - I already cashed your check!
If you think of it, post the link for the AquaC mods.
Cheers,

I'll save you some reading time and give you the Reader's Digest condensed version.
Just so we're all clear - these are for the regular Remora - not the Pro.
1) Muffler - moisten a towel with fresh water and fold it into a square just large enough to fit into the top of the injection chamber. Shuts up the hissssssssss.
2) Power - forget using any skimmer boxes and drop in a mag3. In some cases, it's still too strong even with the collection cup as high as it will go. If that happens, you'll need to put a plastic valve inline with the pump output to throttle it down.
3) Eliminating microbubbles - mixed results here, but some have had great success take a large piece of coarse foam and putting a slit in the middle, then sliding that up the output chute on the skimmer. It's important that the foam be that very coarse black stuff, and you will need to clean it often.
There are other mods, but the above ones will help the most. The general trick with AquaC skimmers is to just throw more pump at them.
Hth!

Btw - after more than 24 hours, the new skimmer is still not producing any skimmate. Wouldn't it be funny if the nautilus ends up "shutting down" the fancy german competition.
Also, I swapped the mj1200 feed pump out for the mj900. Should be a bit better for this job.
Cheers!

I think an $800.00 skimmer should keep me in the " i love spending $$$ on fish club" Especially when you consider I dont even hve any fish yet, but I am going to add some Black Mollies tomorrow. The cycle of my tank is going pretty good. Who knows what wil happen, they may die.

I don't thiink that will happen (or wouldn't with a Deltec, who knows about an H&S ). Just let it run, without fiddling with it, for three to four days and don't touch it and I think you will be surprised!

I think the break in on my Deltec took twice as long because I wouldn't leave it alone
