650 gallon tank seeking sharks

I work in a restaurant in Wisconsin and we recently installed a 650 gallon "shark" tank under a false promise of receiving full grown (or close to it) Bamboo Sharks. We now find out they are only 7". As we were planning on making this an attraction to draw customers into our restaurant that will not do. We are looking for a shark that would well in this size tank and LOOK like a shark not so much like a catfish. Any suggestions?

Welcome to TRT! Good thing they weren't full size because 650 is way to small!Need to be at least twice that size.So you lucked out some what! That would be good for a FO,FOWLR or Reef.

For the most part any shark you can keep in a 650 gallon tank is going to look a bit like a catfish. The classic shark shape is built for open water.... open water predators are generally pretty big. Most of the neater looking ones tend to favor colder water than we can offer without expensive chillers.

This is a good link to various sharks that are suitable to semi-suitable for aquariums.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

I have never kept sharks but I think you would be better off with the 7" sharks and let them grow into the tank. It could even become part of the "attraction" is people coming back to see the growth in the sharks.

But, a restaurant in WI posting in an Atlanta forum kind of confuses me.

What are the dimensions of the tank? That will be more helpful in making recomendations on what sharks would do best. Total gallons is not as important as overall swimming area when it comes to sharks. Hopefully, the tank is either round or at least oval shaped.

You could get away with a juvenille california horn or two for a while but you WILL need to upgrade in few years. They have a shark type look to them more so than bamboos at least.
