I have never used duct tape for aquarium uses, but it is great stuff. I find that electrical tape is much better for aquarium use because it is waterproof. I have many aquarium fittings that are "sealed" with electrical tape.

Doug as usual you have picked another winner . Now I have heard many folks say that it has no uses in the aquarium, no no say I hear are a couple.
Place a small strip, sticky side out on the cabinat. This way when u capture undesirable crabs you can simple stick them to it. This serves to warn other crabs that may be thinking about entering your tank, also it makes better sport for the cat, although the bald spots dont look very nice.
Keep a roll around the tank incase an unwanted reefer is caught trying to frag one of your corals. This way you can gaf His arm to his head. This will deter this kind of activity from happening again.
Gaff tape can work wonders on holding a tank together when all the seems start spliting on your reef. Believe me I have experenced this one first hand.
GAFF tape a modren marvel.

Amazing! I came home this very evening to see my husband's handiwork... We'd picked up a motion detector light for the garage, and it had collected dust for many moons. Needless to say, the base has that oh-so-special silver sheen to it now...
Thanks Honey!

I knew that was going to come back and bite me in the rear. Danielle was shopping and my neighbors came over to chat with me in the garage. I found the dusty fixture and decided to hook it up. I was not going to mount it permanently until I knew it was properly adjusted.
It works perfectly, so the duct tape will most likely remain until it wears out.

Nope. I am not from Oregon.
That I-beam is one of the main supports for our house. I am sure it is much stronger now.

Back in the old days of Air Florida a very good friend of ours worked there as a gate agent. One night, with a fully packed flight, overbookings, and stand by's, lines out the door situation, Myra got a call on her two-way from the ground crew that the flight would be delayed. She announced the delay, listened to all the whines and groans, and then proceeded to field all the multitudes of questions from the passengers (will I make my connection, what about my luggage, etc).
Well as time went on, things quieted down and everyone was more or less sitting/standing around waiting and waiting. Myra didn't want to miss anything so she had her radio sitting on her podium turned on and listening to the mechanics and ground crew.
She decided to take a walk down the jet-way to check out the crew and see if she could get a handle on when the flight might be leaving - when Murphy struck!
While she was away one of the mechanics called the hanger crew on the radio and in a loud voice (that every single passenger in the waiting area heard!) announced:
"Bring me some **** super-glue and a couple of rolls of speed tape, so I can get this **** plane off the ground"
By the time Myra walked back up the jet-way to the waiting area - it was completely empty!

Duct tape: The Handyman's secret weapon! (Red Green)
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy (Red Green)
My old boss at the grocer back home used the stuff on EVERYTHING. Fix it, Tony -- that tape looks poxy! We actually gave him a "pallet" of tape for Christmas -- we made a tiny pallet from popsicle sticks and stacked it high with rolls of the silver marvel.
I've bought duct tape at the dollar store that came in fashion colours too
Have not used it around the tanks, but Scott goes through enough of the stuff for everything else. Holds a quarter panel or a fender on a car really well

You bet! we use the stuff at work all the time. (I work in theater). I have a whole closet full of gaff tape. okay maybe 5 partial rolls or so. I have white and black. I haven't seen grey in a while. I get a few rolls when any show I am working on closes. (at $15 bucks a roll, I'd rather wait untill the show closes that shell out for a roll...)
The only problems with gaff tape are that it really doesn't like water, and when it freezes, it is a bear to work with. it takes 4 hands to pull it off the roll. So I can't keep it in the trunk of my car in the winter...
Since i usually have cable ties from work as well, i use them alot in my tank. No gaff though.
I can not actually remember the last roll of duc (T/K) tape I bought.

Duct tape - if it's good enough for NASA, well then, i guess it's good enough for me. I just have no need for any on the tank.
And yes, it is standard equip on ALL space flights. (see "Apollo 13" with Tom Hanks).
