Hey,
Something I always wonder about is my coraline. I don't know if it has been discussed, but I would really like to get some info on it. Especially how long does it take to take off on the sides of your tank. Moonlights, that I think should be discussed. Not a lot of plp know what exactly is up with them and I think they are becoming ever so popular with reefers. Those are just a few things I would like to see. Thanks for your time and happy holidays!!! See everyone next year(I prolly will be on befor than )!!!!

How about "Things I know now that I didn't know then" or "The Difference between a beginner and experienced Reefer"

Hi Geoff,
1. Are our reef tanks nutrient poor? Are we starving our corals?
2. What exactly does a healthy coral look like?
3. What is the right way to run a protein skimmer? Are all methods of skimming about the same, or is there a best way to skim? Is skimming even necessary for a successful SPS tank? Is it needed on an LPS and softie tank? What exactly does a skimmer remove?
4. Should reef tanks be biotopes, or is it ok to mix and match?
5. What exactly is a successful reef tank?
6. Canister filters, should they be used on reef tanks?
7. Whats all this talk about bacteria, what are they doing in my tank?
8. Mangroves and macro algae filtration, do they really serve a purpose for a reef tank?
9. Water changes, how often and why?
Sorry if some of these have already been covered, Geoff, I'm just throwing out some things that came to mind .
Steve

we kinda just did with the substrate thread. do you all want to be that specific? i have been keeping the topics pretty broad and letting you all narrow it down.

and maybe why that size of tank?.
how about the pros and cons of the depth of tanks? say like a hex( rather deep) and sqaure and rectangle tanks?

Have chemical additives been discussed?
Ie adding trace elements, dosing kalk, start up chemicals, etc, etc.

the british let you have shotguns. i thought you all only had boomerangs mate!
here is the archive for the previous discussions. additives were done by mojo before i took over.
we way need to revisit some of these discussions as knowledge or technology changes.
