The new guy's 400
In order to not steal any thunder from "MyReef" I thought I would post pictures of my 400 FOWLR project. Dimensions 84 x 36 x 30. I already have a 180g reef and I wanted to keep some big fish. Yes, I did build it myself, and the only acrylic experience I had was with 1/4". This tank is 3/4" thick and glued with IPS #40 and a few beers. It should have water in it by the 20th or so. MM

Here is the sump and the two Iwaki 30's. Oh ya, I drifted over from the East Coast board, so hopefully I can meet some more Left Coasters. MM

Very nice, i hope to post the progres of that one as well as the others in the new forum 
Most of the active left coasters seem to be in OR/Wash but we do have several up and down Ca. I hope you enjoy it here

Hey MM, Great to see another lg tank. Even my 240 is limited in what I could do with the rock, outcroppings, ledeges and such. Got spoiled at Deep See Gallery with their rock layout. Pam keeps reminding me it is 6' from front to back. 
Looking at your skimmer. Is your air intake right at the suction? Mine is in the pipe going into the side of the skimmer. Just wondering if it would aeriate better at the beginning?
Keep the progress pics coming, PLEASE???

OG, If you place the air intake on the suction side then the impeller will break up the bubbles making a better foam. I run a G-2 on my 180 and it works great that way. The one in the picture is a modified G-4 with a Sedra 9000 instead of the 5000. MM

These skimmers are THE BEST! Easy to clean, work great, and NEVER need repair. Simple and straightforward. Go out and buy one today. MM

They are called ASM Skimmers . Made by All Seas Marine in Torrance, CA. (Call for distributors) They are a wholesaler of fish, inverts, and dry goods. As another venture they make skimmers and UV sterilizers (see hardware photo). They are good friends too, bias aside, this is by far the best skimmer I have ever used. MM

Hard to steel my thunder.... Everything looks top notch.....keep us posted. Your dimensions are very close to mine....mine are 84x36x30....easier to light for reef, but since yours is FOWLR, it is not as critical. |
