Tank as room divider, chapt 2
Well, I did it! I moved the tank, added a refugium, and installed new 250w Iwasaki's. (I've got a pic attached, but I really suck as a photographer, so pardon the quality.) The water isn't totally clear as yet, the white spots are snail eggs (laid only after 48 hours of being back in the tank) and I've got some sand residue still clinging to the inside of the glass. I'm exhausted and will finish the clean up tomorrow night. Meanwhile the inhabitants seem to be enjoying their new home!
I knew I had a big job ahead of me when I started this little project, but WOW it was bigger than I thought! Anyway, I'm incredibly happy with how it turned out
Thank you all here at TRT for your informative threads and input!
Phil

Looks great! I think the room divider tanks are some of the most challenging to setup, but have a huge pay back in the end result. Good job!

super job, don't change a thing! Let it mature.

Thanks all!! I'll try to figure out a way to get a better picture posted. This one just doesn't do it justice. I think I have a decent camera, but maybe the bright lights are just too much for it and as I said, I'm not that good of a photographer. I'll play around and see what I can do.
Stang69--I hadn't planned on enclosing the lights, I enjoy the open canopy much more. It makes cleaning easier and I'm a little afraid of overheating the tank during summer.
I believe Spanky suggested an end cabinet to help hide things....I agree and will be working on that next.
tdwyatt-agreed on letting it mature. I have very little in the tank, a few gorgonia, sarcophyton, green star polyps, 4-5 shrimp, tons of strombus (Pacific variety) snails, a few hermits and my pride and joy Ocean Surgeon. I think it'll stay that way for awhile. (That'll be as tough as nicotine withdrawal )
Thanks again,
Phil
