Sandbed Fauna ???

I was just wondering how many of you out there revitalize your sand bed every year or two by adding fauna kits? (like IPSF & Inland sell) Is there really a need to do this, I have a tons of amphipods, bristle worms, gammarus shrimps etc. already established. Just looking for some feedback!

well i'm no expert, but to me it would seem, that if the bed is flourshing, then there is no need to add anyting to replenish it.

i would THINK the fauna kits are for establishing a new bed.

I would agree...the only thing I could think of for being a good reason to reseed your sandbed, would be if you hade a fish or something that was consuming the fauna quicker then it could replenish itself.

you want to reseed your bed because of extinction although your bed might be flousrhing with one type of fauna you can bet that the amount of bio diversity within your tank goes down day after day. the tank can simply not support the amount of diversity we want to keep in our tanks so thats why we reseed them. the diversity is important because of the amount of specialization involved with animals that live on the reefs one type of worm may not eat the type of waiste most prevelent build build up bad

I agree with bio-diversity. The ocean is filled with nothing but predators and prey. Re-seeding with a good kit should replace some of the ones that probably become extinct over time. jmo.
