Mud filters...

Anyone here using some type of mud filter or refugium with mud and mangroves? I am looking for info on this subject, Pro's, Con's and how to set one up. If someone has some info to share on this I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

I believe FAMA magazine had an article on mud filtration in the last few months. You might want to check that out. No experience here but I would try experiment with it if I had more room, time, $$, etc.

Would it be to do something new or do you think there might be something to the concept? Dont mean to sound like I am grillin you guy, I am just curious and trying to learn more (alot more actually) about the reefing thing.

The reason for the thread is I already have a 140 gallon refugium, I already got the mangroves, and have had this set up for a while. I am just trying to decide if I need to hold what I got so to speak or can I take this to a higher level and it be worth while and worth the effort.

I checked into the old issues of FAMA and it's June 03 with the info on mud filtration. One day I'd like to try it because it's something different. I wouldn't want to experiment with my current setup but maybe a new tank. I find that the critters in a dsb are almost as interesting as the reef tank LOL. My dream system would also include tidepools, grasses, etc. If only I had more room....
