am i way off?
cause i just never gave any of it a second glance....

Did somebody call?
Yes I have been running my Bio Rocker for just short of 2 years now. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!
However............................
If you are thinking of it for a reef tank, don't bother. It's way better than a conventional wet/dry, and IMO it's the best thing since sliced bread for a FISH ONLY tank, without live rock.
For a reef, it's not needed. Use all that money on a good skimmer, and some awesome live rock instead.
I use mine on my reef, they gave me one to try, and I love it... nitrates never over 2 ppm even with infrequent water changes (shhhh everybody else's tank gets better treatment than mine!) and copious feedings. The denitrifying slab of Cell-Pore is thick and has enough density to accomodate the anaerobic/anoxic bacteria to do their thing.
Mine has never clogged. If you saw it at work you would see that it cannot clog. Even if a few pores get clogged, there is so much surface area for bacteria, they can unclog it faster than it can re-clog (and if it did clog, the hobbyist is doing something grievously wrong!).
One thing you should know... Kent sold Cell-Pore, back to the company that was manufacturing it, so the Bio-Rocker is no longer being marketed under Kent's name. You *might* be able to score a deal on any that are left, otherwise, your dealer can get you one under Cell-Pore's name.
HTH

Did I mention I LOVE my BioRocker????

SooooooOoooOOoo now im really confused jen...ya say its not needed on a reef tank...then go on to say that you use on your reef tank and love it...what to do what to do ....its like this
I have a 10 gallon tank doing nothing....want to turn it into a sump...(dont have a sump at all!!!!) and the only filtration that I have is 2 Penguin Bio-Wheel 330 Power Filter's... that and a CPR bakpak with no bioballs (ya said that if I had rock I didnt need them) thats it....all these items are hanging on the back of the tank right now and I want to move them below into the 10 gallon (homemade sump)...outta sight but not outta mind....the bio rocker looks like an easy way to help with filtration and turn the 10 gallon tank in to a sump..(little wxpensive but ill live)
If you have any suggestions on another way to change the setup pleeeease HELP...lol
tanks
Ryan

Bio Rocker won't fit in a 10... problem solved.
I used one on my reef because it was GIVEN to me. I have run them on FO too... sold 'em for that purpose. The reef is ours (Scott's and mine, but it "lives" in the shop)... if I wasn't given the rocker to test/try I would have used a standard sump, but since I had a freebie, I used it, I love it, but I believe that its best application is on a FO without live rock. Each square inch of cell pore is worth about 700 bio-balls so it's far more efficient than wet/dry filters... and we all know you do not require bio-balls to run a reef, but you DO require some biological media if you are running a true FO system. Hence my statement that the best application for this system is FO because it's better biological filtration in applications without the use of live rock.
If you want to spend the extra dough and get one, (need a 20 long to put it in... or their sump!), yeah it's great. Works like a dream. Do you NEED it? Absolutely not, for the purpose you are describing. If you want a kewl device that works really well, even though it would be somewhat redundant in a reef tank, then go for it! It certainly won't hurt anything.
Clearer?
Jenn

Jen as always you have all the answere thanks a-lot...
so you have convinced me to get a normal sump. now the question (since you own a store) is what brand/type should I get?????
I really dont know that much about sumps and things...I have read several articles but I seem to get the point better when talking to humans and not looking over an article....

I don't want to venture into commercial territory... however a sump is a sump... some use commercially made ones, some use plastic tubs... the choice is yours, based on whether you want baffles, refugium, or just a vessel to hold you pump, heater and skimmer.
