This thing looks like an out take from one of the Alien movies. About 8 months or so ago I saw a little black slug like thing on my live rock. It must have been a hitch hiker from some purchase way back. It only came out at night (lights out). It disappeared a couple of days later and I never saw it again until about 2 months ago. At least I think it is the same guy. This time it was about an inch long by 1/2 inch wide, soft (no shell), black velvet color with a frilly sort of skirt all the way around its body. It had 2 stumpy antennae. After one glimpse it disappeared behind my rock wall.
Well let me tell you, he's baaaack.
He was crawling up the back glass and man did he grow. He is now at least 1 1/2 inches long by 1 inch wide and about 1/2 inch high. He is almost as big as my Black & Gold Damsel and is one evil lookin' dude.
He does however, do a wonderful job of cleaning the algae off of the glass.
He does not move very fast unless you agitate it. I touched it with a piece of hard plastic airline tubing.
As soon as I get a picture I will post it. Hopefully somebody can I.D. the monster. The problem is he never shows up when there is a digital camera around.
Can anybody venture a guess from my crude description?
