Question

blowing detritus off rocks

How often should I be blowing detritus off my rocks with a turkey bayster?

Do any of you do this?

I do it about once a month with a small powerhead. The filter feeders love it.

IMHO it makes a HUGE difference especially in the beginning when you have a lot of die off. I hit mine daily for at least the first three months. Then slowed down to weekly. No that I'm having some problems maybe I should start again

You betcha! Use some sort of filter, poly batting, anything to catch and remove the detritus from the system.

A power head wasn't strong enough for me. I use turkey basters and really blast the rocks. Being sure to get as much out of the holes and cracks as I can.
