watchman goby issue....

today i noticed my watchman goby looked different. it looks like it tangled with something in the tank, and got the worst of it. it's top left lip is missing, its bottom jaw is split in two right down the middle. what's the chances of survivabilty?

have you ever heard of melafix its some kinda tea extract (smells like a medicene cabinet but is reef safe) anyway i had a velvet damsel that had almost all his fins stripped by the 3 4stripes i had(the largest of which my fiance loveingly named damion) (lost the 4stripes and couple other fish with battle of marine velvet velvet lived through that though) anyway the velvet regrew his fins very rapidly dont rember time frame but is was like one day no fins next day fins i attribute the rapid recovery to melafix dont know if it will work work in this case but good luck anyhow

AquaticsDeptLeader;

Is that the same stuff as Melaluka (sp) which I believe is tea tree oil?

Deep Six;

As for the poor goby, is he able to eat? What do you have in the tank that might have gone after him? Crabs, nasty damsels?? Have you heard any clicking noises in the tank?

I hope he recovers.

Alice

yes, its able to eat, i have been feeding it brine and mystic shrimp. i have been watching it closely. its too fast more me to consider capturing it. if it tangled with anything, it would have been the hermit crab. the only other livestock in my tank is the green mandarinfish, filament wrasse, cinnamon clown, and scopas tang. i think it would be able to avoid the urchin and rermaining slugs and snails. all i can do is hope for the best. the only other place for him would be in my cpr aquafuge, and it would most likely jump out there. i hope it will recover.
peace...
