I've seen green ones in schools as large as about 10. Never seen a mix of species yet. My LFS sometimes has different species together and they seem to stay apart.

Hi Ron,

With 4-6 small C. Viridis or other types of the genus Chromis you can achieve the schooling effect. C. Viridis are the Blue-Green Chromis that is usually seen at LFSes in large numbers heh.

IMO they are very peaceful, grow slowly and are attractive lil' fish you could keep in a small school.

4-6 is a good number if you want to keep other fish as well. You can probably keep a larger number too

I had seven blue-green chromis is my reef and ended up only having one. It happens to some hobbyists and is a mystery to me! It sure is neat to see the schooling effect though! Johnny

I have four green chromis in my 90g reef and they are not agressive at all but do school. Had them three months now and they are fun to watch as they always stay near the front and do not hide like so many other fish. They actually bump my hand while feeding.

Thumbs up

School of Chromis

We have two now, all the LFS had that were not beat up.I will transfer all of the 2 135 gallon tanks into the new 240. We also like the schooling and want to have about 8 I would think. I cant remember the name, but there is a Hawaiian fish that schools and is yellow.

My goal is a small school of each
