Royal Gramma (sp) and Firefish
The Royal is already in the tank, and from what I can see he/she is very territorial, I want to add a georgous firefish that I have seen at the LFS. Any feedback on the two together ?????
TIA
Steven

Steven, too bad you didn't put the fire fish in first. G.loretos are usually not bad unless they are in the company of rowdy fish. Firefish usually fair better as a pair, or trios in larger tanks. Thye can be skittish and at rick for jumping out

Doug, can you add a Royal Gramma to a small tank that has a resident Purple Firefish? The PF seems a bit territorial to me, but not overly aggressive. I had a RG at home once, but it mysteriously disappeared after about 2 yrs. of good living. It was a beautiful fish but pretty skittish. In fact, it hid behind the rocks for about 6 months before it finally got brave enough to hang out with the other fish!
If I were to add a RG, should it be smaller, larger, or the same size as the PF?
Good thread, Steven!

KLB, I would get one at least as big if not a tad bigger. Once the initial squabbling is over they should coexist ok

Hi
I have a Royal Gramma and a firefish and they get along great. The royal gramma was added first and after a three week quaritine the firefish was added. They never even looked at each other funny yet alone tried to hurt each other.Great combo.

Ralph? How big was your tank?
Do you think I can add a Royal Gramma to my 55 with 2 percs in it? Do Royal Gramma's jump?

Yes Royals Jump, I no longer have one because of that. I have limited my 46 to 4 fish - 2 maroon clowns, and 2 bangaii cardinals.
