Humm I just found this thread ok I agree with Tom most triggers need there own tank to themselves with maybe some other aggressive fish that they wont try to kill to much I have trained my trigger for months and yes I mean trained he will eat from my hand and not hurt a bit when i first got him he picked on every thing so into the 20 gal jail tank he went and I have taught him if he doesnt pick on my other fish he will get lots of food hand feed from me I buy him fresh shrimp from the grocery store when I get some for myself which is like twice a week I would not recommend a trigger in a reef unless you find one that is docile or you have a jail tank to try to train before introducing him to a community tank Im sure luck had alot to do with it to.

Better off buying a lottery ticket ,Austin
all the advice offered up here ,has been on the money IMO,,,
the 5" Clown Trigger in my 180 FO ,is a munchin' terror! he even nibbled apart some plastic plants i put in there from the IO salt buckets!(and my cleaning magnet,my glass cleaner/planting stick,my fingers/arms etc.)oh, and the tail of everything else in the tank,,,
IMO, a niger would prob be your best bet , if you hafta have a trig.
every "rule" has it's exception, not worth chance-takin on a fat ,sassy trigger, and a empty/bare tank,,,,

So purty... Well, thanks for all the advice! Yeah, i thought i had it lucky with the dwarf angels i had, until all my beautiful lps's got picked on! They're my favorite corals! So out went the angels. I'm a bit impulsive, so after waiting a couple days, i think i'm cured of the trigs, but what about this stocking plan? Currently have:

2 Oscellaris Clowns

1 Lawn Mower Blenny

2 small regal tangs

On wish list:

2 Yellow Watchman gobies (cross fingers that green brittle star won't devour them)

1 Green mandarin (yep, plenty of pods )

and 1 beautiful little fish like a Hellfinchi Firefish, if i can afford it, or maybe a non jumping reef-safe wrasse, if such a fish exists

Would this be too much of a bioload, i wouldn't think so until the tangs got huge, at which time they would be moved to a different tank. It's a 120 that i have now. Seems like a very reef safe crowd huh?

Ohh ohh ohh, I just finished (sheesh its late ) aquascaping the tank and positioning all the corals and getting all systems go, after the 2 month re-cycle, so i think pictures are in order for tomorrow night! Thanks pals!

Cool Austin sounds good to me ,well except the tang police will get ya on the 2 tangs in the same tank. Some times it can be done but I cant recommend it or they will come after me.

I got them as tiny little things, and they love eachother! They always stay together, not showing any signs of irritation or aggression! I guess i'm just the EXCEPTION!!!
