New fang blenny advice??????

Hello, well me and a friend decided to check out some of the not so well known lfs stores around town and found a fang blenny for $9.99. They where selling it under the name of scissor tail blenny though. Pretty sure they new nothing about it. The only thing I know about the species is what i have read in the pocket guide to marine fishes. So any advice would be greatly apreciated!! And by the way anybody know what they usually go for??

Hey jojo....

I picked one of these up about a month ago. She's great!

Do you know that these fish are poisonous? I believe that their bite can be pretty nasty. The other inhabitants in you tank will stay away from him. Mine is very friendly--always out and about.

Akasha (that's her name) will eat anything I put in the tank, but she absolutely gorges on mysis and bloodworms...

HTH

their bite is poisonous but im not sure if its enough to kill a fish or human. we have one at the store and i really like it, ive been contemplating bringing it home. is yours very colorful? the one we have looks very healthy but only has a hint of blue and yellow (the colors arent very vibrant). I was wondering if it would color up when in a more hospitable environment. in michael scott's handbook on marine fishes says that it will do best if kept with live rock where it can hunt small crustaceans, and that it should be fed finely chopped crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp, vitamin enriched brine, and frozen foods for herbivores. and not to house with aggressive species.

Thanks for the info. When I was looking at mine in the store it didnt look so colorfull either but it looked really healthy and was active. He stayed that color for the first day and then today it seemed like its colors totaly changed. Now, it looks just like it does in the book you mentioned. Really awesome looking fish!!! Probly my favorite fish in my tank. He seems to spend most of his time out in the open or picking at the rock. I'm ammusing its grabbing pods. He didnt seem to interested in the formula 1 or mysis that I put in there today I would think its because hes more interested in the bugs on my rock. Hopefully he will start to take the frozen stuff soon. If your thinking about bringing one home I would highly recomend it. Mine seems like an awesome fish so far.
